BRITISH COLUMBIA KART CLUB ASSOCIATION

November 16, 2004

Re: Open Letter to B.C. Kart Clubs.

Dear fellow karters,

Following the outcome of the 2004 BCKCA AGM and Rules meetings held
this last weekend I am compelled to write to you to inform you of the
outcome and "state of affairs" of BCKCA.

I feel we had a very productive meeting with regard to setting the
groundwork for the 2005 BCKCA series. However:

As you may know, we had several members of last year's executive and
volunteer staff, resign their positions. These people have contributed
greatly to karting in BC over the last several years and the time has
come for a "changing of the guard". At the AGM we were not able to
fill all of the vacancies that exist. At this time the following
positions still need firm commitments: Vice President / Licensing
Director Secretary
Licensing Officer
Regional Steward
Regional Starter

I ask that all of you seriously consider volunteering for these
positions or soliciting someone you think may be interested and
suitable to fill these posts. If you need more detailed information
about the requirements of these positions, please call myself, or any
of the former executives. We would be happy to discuss this with you.

In the recent past the executive was holding monthly meetings in the
lower mainland. As the past executive was mostly in the area, this was
not a problem. It's my intention not to do this, but rather to conduct
day-to-day business and communication by e-mail and phone if
necessary. Physical meetings will be reserved for regional race events
and the November AGM and Rules meetings. This way volunteers from the
Interior and Island can equally participate.

I am looking forward to 2005 as a great year for BCKCA; however,
unless we fill these positions we will likely have to curtail the race
series and services provided.

On another note, the 2004 National Championship race, hosted by BCKCA
with volunteer contributions from all of the BC clubs was a financial
success. As a result BCKCA will be dispersing funds to each of the
member clubs in the amount of $2,500 to each club.

As far as the Regional Series, Classes, and rule changes go for next
year, full details will be posted on the web site very shortly. The
highlights are,

A two race series with one race at CARTBC and one in Quesnel. They
will be two-day events with practice and qualifying on Saturday and
Pre-final and Finals on Sunday. The number of classes has been reduced
from 21 to 11 with several of the smaller classes combined into larger
single classes. Each class will run on its own, thus eliminating the
inter-class interference when classes are run in groups. As this is a
new homologation year for tires, a committee was struck to report the
new data back when available, when the new tire rules will be
released.

I look forward to hearing from you and seeing you at the track.

Warmest regards,

John Gregg, President, BCKCA
